Life’s first stepping stone…

When everything is lost
When darkness looms…not large
But further restricts
Already rasping breath
When the soul is frail
And worse than dead
Such that not even the faintest trace
Of hope has enthusiasm to enter
When cruel self-reproaching
Reduces the already non-existing self
To nothingness..
When life snatches away from you
Your dreams & fantasies
When you realize
What you’ve lost
And what loss you’ve caused
When it’s so easy to think of
All the mistakes you’d made
And repent & fret about it

When it so easily pains you to remember all
The misfortunes & defeats & disappointments
You’d always encountered
And not so easy to remember & say
Yes..What is gone is gone
When you say what will be
Will have little to do with what’s gone
If you chose it to happen so.
When your journey has just begun
And at the very beginning
You’ve made grave mistakes
Which you understand & realize.
When it’s more important
To take responsibility for
What you didn’t achieve…
When you know what it means
To achieve what you want
When it’s so important to you…
No…not to show others ‘you’
But to believe in yourself
To be strong from within…
When it requires a good heart
And a strong mind
To sail through the journey
Of this great adventure of life...

Well articulated thoughts with a melancholy touch; the tough was not to my liking though

There are lots and lots of lessons in failure than in Success! But failure itself is highly relative as you measure yourself against a bench mark which is not permanent or the measuring process had some errors which made everyone believe on the result.

Having said that, as in Sports, it is best to accept the verdict with the shortcomings, look for the lessons, allow them to sink in to you and move with renewed vigor so that the next challenge meets your steely resolve to succeed and you continue to remain the cheery bubbly self, which we all love to see

thanks daddu! As usual you continue to impress me with your 'well-articulated' thoughts :) which never fail to leave behind a strong trail in me. Thank you for commenting on my posts. It's always so 'message-delivering' & so appropriate!

excellent sad poem. But I beg to differ from your views. What appears as failure 'NOW' may not really be 'failure' later in life!I HAVE REALISED THIS THROUGH THESE 46 LONG YEARS OF MY LIFE'S JOURNEY!When I WAS DOWN WITH SEVERE HEALTH PROBLEMS ,AND HAD TO GIVE UP CERTAIN THINGS I GAINED CERTAIN OTHER THINGS WHICH MADE ME MUCH MORE HAPPIER!AT THE CRUCIAL JUNCTURE OF DECIDING TO GIVE UP MY PRESTIGIOUS BANK CARRIER GOD BLESSED ME WITH ANOTHER CARRIER MUCH TO MY LIKING!
WHAT WE THINK AS 'FAILURE' IS A SHORT SIGHTED APPROACH TO THINGS.GIVE THE BEST ATTEMPT TO EVERYTHING THAT YOU ARE DESTINED TO DO AND UNDOUBTEDLY SUCCESS WILL BE YOURS.YES GOD WILL SEE TO IT THAT IT IS A SUCCESS!

Loved these lines...

They really taught me a lot! Its such experiences that push us on to understand what we really want - and relish what we have. As your blog says - its all about living to learn n relish!!

Its amazing that you can express your feelings and thoughts so well - so I'm not really appy that its your first official sad poem ..but just like you - its so positive and has a beautiful beginning (which I guess is where the poem ends..)
